The Power of Belief - Rommal Surana

Growing up, my brother and I were not high achievers academically. Those around us often label us as average or even below average. Both of us struggled with reading and writing; during that era, there was little awareness of learning difficulties. We were never diagnosed, but the challenges were real. Our grades painted a bleak picture, and many doubted our potential, often questioning what we would achieve in life.

Our father, however, never let those doubts penetrate our home. Whenever people expressed their negative views, he remained unfazed. Instead of engaging with critics, he would turn to us with calm determination and say, "I believe in you. Not today, but someday, you will succeed.
" This simple but powerful statement became our foundation. He urged us to keep studying and improve step by step. If I scored 55%, he would encourage me to aim for 58% next time. It wasn't about perfection but about consistent growth.
For my brother, things were particularly tough. Having changed five schools by the 10th grade, his educational foundation was weak. Despite his sincere efforts, success remained elusive for a long time. Yet, our father's message never wavered: "I believe in you." It was this belief that instilled in us a quiet confidence and resilience, even when progress seemed slow.
As we advanced to higher grades, our performance began to improve. That shift was driven not by external validation, but by the knowledge that someone genuinely believed in us. Today, my brother has become a successful businessman, and I earned a gold medal in finance during my MBA and later transitioned to a fulfilling career in psychology. None of this would have been possible without our father's unwavering faith.
Our journey highlights a simple truth: a parent's belief can shape a child's destiny. What you feel about your children matters far more than what the world says. With love, patience, and unwavering belief, even the toughest challenges can be overcome.
Parenting Tip:
Believe in your children when no one else does. Your unwavering support and faith in their potential can give them the courage to persevere and ultimately succeed.
