'Road Safety - Janajagruti Abhiyan' conducted at Heritage International School

Road traffic accidents are an important public health problem worldwide. What needs to be stressed is that it is preventable. With the surge of construction work in all corners of the city the traffic congestion is at its peak. This resulted in approximately 1000 road traffic accidents in Pune. The most vulnerable population is probably the youth of the country. Hence With this notion, Heritage International School hosted a workshop on Road Safety for the students of Grade 7 to Grade 10.

They thought it was appropriate to conduct an awareness drive for road safety amongst the youth. The speakers from the Sakal association 'Road Safety - Janajagruti Abhiyan’ were invited. , Mrs Geetanjali was the resource person. Workshop conducted in Heritage International School, Pune. Mrs Geetanjali has been toiling and doing selfless service to humanity by creating awareness about the consequences of such horrific moments of life when we can lose our near and dear ones. She delivered a presented eye-opening videos and presented the statistics of accidents in India.

It was an engaging and informative presentation on practices, challenges, and innovations in the field of road safety in India. She shared his vast experience and unique solutions that have worked for specific sites. The presentation covered various aspects of road safety, including road design, traffic management, vehicle safety, and behavioural aspects of road users Mrs Geetanjali Madam highlighted the importance of multi-disciplinary approaches in addressing road safety challenges and emphasized the need for collaborative efforts among stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, academia, and the public.

The presentation also highlighted the key challenges faced in the field of road safety in India, such as inadequate infrastructure, lack of awareness, enforcement issues, and road user behaviour. She discussed innovative solutions, including technological interventions, policy measures, and community-based initiatives, that have shown promising results in improving road safety where our students are involved by approaching them.
